2005-2006

2005 saw the promotion of Shaun Owens from Assistant to Head Band Director.  Misty Grubbs was hired as Assistant Director.  The band continued in the 2nd year housed in the Akers Theatre after moving form the band room prior to the beginning of demolition of the old band room.  The Marching Band performed a show entitled "Wonder" featuring the music of Stevie Wonder.  Field Commander Cole Campbell performed as "Stevie" singing You Are The Sunshine of My Life.  The Band received Proficient ratings at both KMEA and Mid-States competitions. The Concert and Advanced Bands received proficient ratings at KMEA Concert Festival and the jazz program continued to grow as more than a dozen students participated in an after school Jazz Ensemble.  The Jazz Ensemble traveled to King's Island in May to participate in a Music In The Parks Festival, where they were awarded 1st place HS Jazz Ensemble. Ariel Elias repeated as 1st chair Baritone Saxophone in the District 7 Honors Band.
